Wisdom Teeth Removal

Wisdom teeth, also known as the third set of molars, emerge between the ages of 17 and 25. Wisdom teeth removal is an outpatient procedure performed by a dentist or an oral surgeon. 

If an examination and X-rays suggest that your wisdom teeth are impacted or may cause dental problems in the future, our dentist will recommend a tooth extraction. You can avoid damage to the surrounding teeth and bones by having your wisdom teeth removed if they are impacted or have the potential to create complications.

If you aren't experiencing any pain or discomfort right now, wisdom teeth removal may be recommended to prevent complications from developing. Wisdom teeth can affect the integrity and health of the adjacent teeth or develop cavities and infections over time since they are located in an area of the mouth that is difficult to clean. 

In other cases, wisdom teeth that don't have enough room to erupt or emerge at an angle can cause severe pain and discomfort. In such situations, the dentist will recommend extraction to relieve pain and prevent complications. The wisdom teeth removal procedure will be carried out by our experienced dentist in our dental office. 

The procedure for wisdom teeth removal is quite simple and straightforward. 

First, our dentist will make an incision in the gum tissue. Then, the dentist will remove the bone that is obstructing access to the tooth root and extract the affected tooth. 

To remove the wisdom tooth, the dentist pulls it from its socket. He then cleans the area around the root of the extracted tooth and closes the site with stitches to encourage healing.

Throughout the procedure, the patient is under local anesthesia. Local anesthetic is administered through one or more injections around the extraction site. The dentist will most likely also apply medication to the gums to numb them before administering the injection.
